About Gabriele Craig Art Therapist

Gabriele Craig Art Therapist

Gabriele Craig has been part of the interior design industry for more than 25 years. Her design projects have primarily been commercial, and her clients have included the Chancellor of the Embassy of Germany and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in Ottawa and Toronto. She shares her extensive knowledge of design as a part time instructor at George Brown College, where she teaches the various design principles.

In her private art therapy practice, Gabriele works with children, adolescents and adults, who are victims of trauma, autism, deafness or have mental challenges.

In her artistic career, for which she studied in both Germany and Canada, what captures Gabriele’s interest is a representation of nature and the feelings our experiences of nature evoke. Her medium is watercolour, mixed media and encaustic. She explores ways of using layers upon layers of colours to convey inner dispositions and feelings in an abstract manner, which enables the viewer to experience his or her unique emotional reactions to her paintings. She has exhibited works in galleries in Ottawa, Kingston and Toronto.

Gabriele’s Heather Series of paintings represent an undulation, isolation and shifting of perspectives. The images vacillate between abstraction and representation, evoking metaphorical scenic interpretations.
